Troubleshooting / Snakemen aren't appearing at all!

I'm playing OpenXCom 1.0 (no mods, no nightlies changes) and have reached mid-October. Despite doing dozens of missions including terror missions and a base assault, Snakemen/Chryssalids have yet to appear even once. No UFOs seem to have them as their chosen race.

All the other races are appearing in fair proportion. Any idea what might be causing this..? 

Edit: I'm not sure whether I should submit this via the Bug Tracker or not, since I can't reproduce it in the nightly build.
