I love OpenXcom
Strange thing was, Simon did actually die in the end, about three missions away from the final one. Despite two troopers going into a crashed UFO in front of him, the aliens ignored them and blew Simon away instead. Meanwhile Dustyweaver, my insane commander, survived right to the end, even though one of our last Earth fights was a struggle in the Xcom base, with the base design being such that Dustyweaver was trapped alone and nearly unarmed with a whole pack of aliens.
