Suggestions / Re: Place Savegames to the game folder
« on: March 25, 2016, 11:04:49 pm »
Maybe it possible to make option to choose folder for savegames?
Just because of my disc C - it's SSD and it's have a limited (as i heard) write cycles.
You shouldn't worry about small things like openxcom saves, those are popcorn writes to your SSD.

Now, something like making an SSD your photoshop scratch drive - that'll wear it down

pretty damn efficiently.

And even then, this thing should keep on rocking in the free world for quite some time.

Suggestions / Re: Diffirent corpses
« on: March 25, 2016, 10:26:36 pm »
Why stop at corpses? We need randomized sprites for terrain.

Otherwise you simply can't have any terrain features with any sort of detail to them.
Or well, you can - but it'll look absolutely ridiculous.

YOU THOUGHT I WAS DONE

[33: Super Successful Base Raid]

WELL SO WAS I UNTIL I SUDDENLY WALKED INTO A NOOB TRAP OF RESEARCHING A COMMANDER TOO EARLY LOL!!!

[34: Sectoid Shenanigans]

NOW I DROWN MY ANGER IN POINTLESS TRAINING MISSIONS FOR FUN

[35: Messing Around]

AND MORE TRAINING MISSIONS FEATURING SOME POOR MUTONS AND A SUPER SPECIAL ETHEREAL GUEST WHO UNFORTUNATELY DIED

[36: Muton Suhplais]

MORE MUTONS PERISH IN A VERY VICIOUS RAID BY THE RAVENOUS X-COM OPERATIVES

[37a: Oh my, base defense!]

SEEING THE IMMEDIATE THREAT OF THE RAVENOUS X-COM OPERATION, THE ETHEREAL FORCES SEND A TERROR SQUAD TO END THEIR PUNY LIVES LIKE THEY USED TO DO

[37b: Blaster Launchers are Fun And Balanced]

UNFORTUNATELY, THE X-COM OPERATIVES ARE OUT OF CONTROL
ALL IS LOST

S. O. S. S. O. S. S. O. S. S. O. S. S. O. S. krhhhhhhhffpppphhhhhhhhhhhh

[38: FULL RETARD BASE RAID]

Tools / Re: Where are the save files located?
« on: March 25, 2016, 12:26:25 am »
The obvious questions are "what OS" and "how did you install openxcom"?

if it's winblows and "using the 1.0 installer" then the answer is
C:\Users\Bollocks\Documents\OpenXcom\xcom1

Work In Progress / Re: [Concept] Early-Mid Game Toys
« on: March 24, 2016, 03:29:28 pm »
It looks pretty cool, but I'd like to remind you that inventory pictures don't have the UFOPaedia background:

and use a different palette while at it

Also, the raider armor doesn't look nearly as bulky as it should be to signify its purpose as a Don't Get Killed When Shot As Much armor.

Open Feedback / Re: Is there a way to play without a save abusing?
« on: March 23, 2016, 11:28:03 pm »
You need dead rookies, brevs. They're what keeps the Random Number God amused by your antics. Stop spilling blood and soon you will find yourself struck by Disaster Dominoes. Besides, I never waste men - the average rookie who charges at aliens with a stun prod is a equal to any hero of legend, and his death is much lamented.

(when a captured alien's usefulness runs out, they drag him above the tomb of a dead rookie, and there he gets vivisected slowly)

I don't get those people who are totally anal about casualties. Soldiers bellow Seargent rank don't have human rights anyway, except if the X-COM Commander declares you a freako super-soldier rookie.

In vanilla you can just exploit the fact that you can manufacture laser cannons for massive profit and then recruit shittons of rookies (100 at a time works well) and sort through them to pick out the very best. (And in fact you should probably do this way before I did, which was around July or something.)

And that's how you get rookies like this.

What of the rest, and particularly the low rollers?
You send them on suicide missions in the front as living meatshield, to either spot the aliens for the others or to distract them so that your more valueable troops don't die.

and that's how you get a memorial page that looks somewhat like this, though a good third of that is just ethereal terror psi+sectopod slaughter

That sounds like it could get really fucking complicated really fucking fast.

It's not an issue for a turbonerd like me, but the numbers game has already gotten really heavy.

Mainly because the TFTD's gauss weapons make no sense - launching a sphere of galium containing anti-matter? That's not a gauss weapon. Not to mention that if anti-matter can be made so easily, why do you even need zrbite?
And hilariously enough you can't possibly be resistant to that shit, since anti-matter reacts very violently to non-antimatter.

so it is even more nonsensical than just that lol
