Title: Ways of adding gore to game.
Post by: ValeriusPaipikus on August 26, 2020, 06:23:38 pm
Is there any way of making the game more bloody and gory? For example, make visible blood sprite appear on successful shot/hit, or make enemies to drop organs when they die from explosion/too_many_damage.
Tell about any ideas you have and of ways of making them real.

Scripts could alter any animation frame of unit, this mean you can add new frames that have blood on them. and script will swap it when unit get hit.

I created a request for this ages ago, but can't find it now.

In short, the idea is:
- create a simple animation of flying red chunks of flesh
- make this animation play when overkill happens
- recolour the animation if needed (for example to green for Mutons, to black for machines, etc.; would need setting it individually on armours or maybe units)

A more ambitious version:
- as above, but introduce multiple overkill animations (melts, turns to ash, etc.) - set by weapon clip
