Just saw this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLBekhJjoJU
and learned about the popular misconception of AK-47/50/etc being inaccurate, and why it's a thing.
then I checked the ruleset of this mod and noticed that the misconception made it's way here as well.
So, just a little psa. this is a myth. AKs can be just as accurate as regular rifles.
course, as mentioned in the video, any beat up and overused rifle is going to perform worse, so if you're just saying that the crap you get off terrorist's dead bodies is worse than the stuff you buy new, that makes sense.
Also makes sense to have trade offs for game balance of course.
Just didn't want to any decisions to be made cause of trying to be realistic when reality isn't actually that way.

BlackOps sells to terrorists, then they purchase them back... and sell them to X-Com double price.
It's in the lore.
Maybe.
Seriously though, it's a game and doesn't matter for me if it is for balance purposes. There will always be some differences from the real world:
- But TU wise this pistol fires slower than the other one. In real life, it's not like this.
- This Uzi has faster fire rate in real life. It should fire 18 bullets in Auto, not 6.
- Shotgun should have less range if we calculate the distance in real life meters.
- etc
-
This is true.
My main point is my last sentence. I don't really give a crap otherwise.

The problem was that the model in XCF aimed to represent the whole range, from the earliest models made in the 50's to modern designs.
Why the past tense? Because I changed it a couple weeks ago, made a distinction between the AK-47 (classical Kalashnikov) and the AKM which is better, also now the mod properly distinguishes between 7.62 and 5.45 ammo. So I hope it will work better now.

FYI, AKM also uses 7.62 and Groza uses 9x39. But all russian guns in your mod use 5.45. AK-74 uses 5.45.

All of them use a variety of ammo, Mr. Ackshually. ;)
I had to make some choices.

Export AKs chambered in 5.56 are about as accurate as M4, but they're uncommon. And those extra accurate custom AKs used by Murican gun nuts like the one in the video are literally one of a kind, so they don't matter at all.
Normal AKs are usually not very accurate because they normally use cheap ammo.

didn't you know that once you get the military advisor he actually assembles and even polishes every bullet by hand himself? ^^

Yeah. now that I look back on it this was a pretty pointless post.
my apologies for taking up the server space.

No worries, I wish more posts were so "pointless"... ;)
