Hey if anyone can answer this question quickly, what is the max number of Soldiers and aliens a map can handle for both sides?

There's no quick answer for that question.

A rule of thumb for aliens is the Battlescape size: 1 alien per 10x10 map block, to avoid overcrowding, so a 50x50 Battlescape should have around 25 aliens deployed. But there are also other factors that can increase/decrease this.

Taken literally, the game is  one unit per tile. So a 50x50x5 block can have 12500 units  ;)

It really does vary depending on game design. But generally "mid range" is regarded as about 12 blocks. So if you have more than 1 per 10x10, there will be a lot of splash damage and CQB.
