Title: Cant use medikit unless you equip it before battle?

Hi
I'm having trouble using the medikit in game.

I'm not carrying one in my hands, and I can't find a way to go to the soldier inventory and use it during battle.
I see no way to enter inventory and change things while actually on a mission.
Please advise

press I or click on inventory icon
