Is their a way to adjust the number of aliens on a particular mission? I am mainly looking at making base defence missions harder by adding more attacking aliens if it is possible.
Many Thanks

Hi,
yes, the number of aliens is defined in the alien deployment ruleset, more info here: https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Ruleset_Reference_Nightly_(OpenXcom)#Deployment_Data

Many Thanks Meridian. I will check it out

It worked a treat buddy. I now have aliens attacking with 40 plus troops.

The side effect of increasing the alien numbers on missions is that they will panic more, thus the remaining aliens will be less deadly once mass panic ensues

is there a way to lower the Panic threshold?

Increase their bravery might do the trick

OXCE makes morale loss for the aliens scale inversely with the total number of aliens, so using it should automatically fix this problem.

I have done a few missions playtesting it now and it seems okay but I have had a plan to increase alien morale for a while now so that will be my next project. I have also doubled the armor settings for all aliens except sectopods and increased their movement rate. I want base defending to be really scary lol. Many thanks for all the help guys. when I have it perfected I will share it for anyone that wants to try it.

Alien bravery is typically 80 to 110. If you bump all 80s and 90s to 100 you should be good. If you bump them to 110, they will completely cease panicking.
80: low for aliens, panics without too much trouble (sectoid, floater, snakeman, muton, ethereal)
90: medium, doesn't panic that easily (reaper, celatid)
100: high, difficult to panic (chryssalid, silacoid)
110: never loses morale from friendly kills (cyberdisc, sectopod, zombie)
What's actually going on:
80: receives 30% morale loss
90: receives 20% morale loss
100: receives 10% morale loss
110: receives 0% morale loss
