Comment for luke83 radio auditions ;)
Nice to see that you can do impersonations too.
So, what about adding soldier voices to openxcom? Shouldn't be hard to implement, i think? Start with some simple texts:
"Aliens spotted", "Fucker killed", "He shoot me!" etc
-
Soldiers voices will annoy some people, i always found them funny, like HURL from Jagged alliance , when he first got shot he use to say " I think i'm bleeding" ;D
-
Optional of course ;)

Voices would be a nice addition to the game. We would need some female voices also.
*kkmic lets his imagination run free*
How about having each soldier from a certain country/zone and have a voice pack for that zone with a proper accent - like having Japanese soldiers talking in English with a Japanese accent, Australian soldiers talking with an Australian accent, etc.
You could have a pack for each language, so if you are not using English for the interface, you could place another voice pack in the OXC folder and your soldiers would start talking in your language.
Suggestions - including michal's (maybe more than one line per event - and maybe with only some change of happening, not always):
[Battlescape]
- Alien Spotted
- Alien killed
- Friendly wounded
- Friendly down
- Grenade thrown (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_in_the_hole)
- Clip empty
- Autofire used
[Geoscape]
- Research completed (maybe just some high-tech sound)
[Interception]
- Closing distance to engage
- Damage status report
- Disengaging
- UFO escaping
And so on....
-
Voices could also depend on morale - that would be cool.

I am thinking
* Soldier selection ( when you click on soldier)
* Move request
*Enemy Spotted
* Taking Damage - Grunts
* Taking Damage - Fatally Wounded
* Kill shot on enemy
* Going Berserk
* Death Scream
You would need at least 100 to avoid double ups through game , if someone can make a quick knockup of the code we may be able to get voices from the community, not sure how you would go doing multiply languages ?

No, not the soldier selection. You do this too often, it will become boring fast.

simply let the soldiers respond with "my lord" upon selection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NJ1pI2TfEE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NJ1pI2TfEE)

Wow i need to start watching Robot chicken ::) ... Point taken
My thought was every solider having a randomly selected voice and attitude to help you BOND with them, that way it hurts a lot more when they die.

Neat! I would really love to hear foreign languages too since it doesn't matter what they say. Like Italian or Spanish, or Japanese or Thai. Would be really neat to have the same with female voices ;)
Lol @ the my lord video XD

Hi! I was to open e new post, but i think its better to up this feature:
I've just played Xcom: Enemy Within. I was very exceptical, but I found it very enjoyable. Of course, nothing can match OpenXcom as is now. But i really like a few bits and these could be great aditions. First of all, what about adding voices? I really like the idea of commanding a bunch of soldiers from different nationalities.
Could be possible to add something like that? Just if a soldier is a Male/Femake/Country -> Points to a directory with different voices, it will pick one and that's it. Then, we will adding different voices. Could be a fun optional function :)
Cheers!
