Following a recent attack on Accra by previously unidentified alien forces, Chairman Qasim Botros Amjad praised rapid response by X-COM forces in a recent meeting of the Egyptian Council, in what he has deemed as "acceptable civilian losses". Regardless, he has pointed out that corporate profits for Pretorius Industries, one of the members of the Cartel, has taken a dip as a result of investor panic following the attack. With another alien war have just begun 40 years after the end of the First Alien War, only time will tell whether X-COM forces will triumph once again.
In other news, a chapter of the Cult of Sirius has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in Shanghai last week, proclaiming that "our alien friends have returned, and we will answer their call!". Local authorities in Free China have reportedly already initiated crackdowns on known and suspected Cult of Sirius members as reports of alien activity in the South China Sea begin to skyrocket. Africa Corp's CEO Jane Masego earlier today reported that X-COM had successfully managed to stop an alien attack on Seychelles Island, with local authorities already beginning reconstruction efforts and corporate funds being diverted to repair the damage. However, she has expressed concern for a dip on investors similar to one of the Egyptian Cartel's member companies two months ago, with analysts expressing fears of a global economic recession similar to the one suffered during the First Alien War and its immediate aftermath. However, she has reassured investors that Africa Corp will "protect the company's assets and employees in any way possible".
In other news, tensions that were beginning to flare between the breakaway People's Republic of Alaska and the US two years ago have continued to calm as the Second Alien War enters its third month. Another attack by alien forces against Africa Corp, this time on the island Mauritius has been reportedly repelled by X-COM forces, this time with aid from local authorities. CEO Mageso has already ordered the island's corporate assets evacuated, except for military personnel. As a result, all citizens on the island are being relocated further inland in an attempt to protect them from the aliens.
In other news, national military forces operating in the coastlines have been issued newly developed gauss weapons for underwater combat, with the earliest of these pistols having already begun market sales. With the situation in Earth's oceans continuing to deteriorate, cruise liner captains have been ordered to carry these weapons in the event of an alien attack. Stay tuned for further updates!

Attention, this is GNN with some breaking news!
X-COM forces have managed to successfully respond to a distress call from the oil tanker Hyperion earlier today, which came under attack by alien forces. The ship, despite being cleared of alien forces by two surviving X-COM forces in the lower deck and taking what has been reported as "significant losses" in the upper deck, was sunk shortly after two survivors, including Captain David Gregor, were evacuated. He and another employee were then brought back to their port of departure.
In other news, a series of naval engagements in the Sea of Japan/East China Sea were reported by passing ships in the area. The International Maritime Commission has already warned ships passing through the region to be on constant alert for alien attacks, alongside ships in the rest of the Pacific and Indian Oceans respectively. X-COM forces have just managed to evacuate the oil tanker Volker off the coast of the island of Sumatra after clearing out alien forces from the ship, which had already started taking in water during the ensuing engagement in the upper and lower decks as a result of collateral damage to the ship's cargo. The captain was reportedly killed during the attack, though the survivors were safely returned to their respective nations.
In other news, the IMC's call for caution by ships at sea has been extended the areas of risk to all of the planet's oceans. Conventional navies have already been on alert for the past few days and are already conducting daily patrols and inspections of civilian ships as X-COM continues to battle alien forces underwater. The Nautica has been successfully evacuated by X-COM forces earlier today after a pitched fight in the upper and lower decks. Shortly after the engagement, the ship was sunk by a nearby alien submarine before disappearing into the ocean. The surviving personnel have already been sent back to their respective nations.
In other news, submarines from various navies across the globe have recently received weapons shipments of X-COM derived Gauss Cannons as a means to assist the organisation in hunting down alien submarines in the Earth's oceans. The new market for gauss weapons, which are technically derived from plasma weapons used during the First Alien War has finally started to see its boom in other arms manufacturers. New HoloVision revealed by Neo-Sony CEO!
Earlier today, Neo-Sony's CEO Hikaru Midorikawa announced the release of the brand new HoloVision, an advanced successor of the Television, capable of emiting images in 4D. This new released HV also includes a integrated PlayStation 40. The Special Collectors edition includes a copy of Call of Duty: Battle for Perth and a 15-inch Power Suit metal statuette.
EA Games also released its third DLC for the successful game Battlefield XI: X-COM named Dragon's Den, featuring the battles of the Chinese Army against the invaders and the insurgents. It's hinted that the next DLC will be named Ares and will include the Battle of Cydonia.
So, were any non-Elerium dependent missions launched elsewhere into the Solar System or were we back to being stuck in Cislunar space?

X-COM forces have reportedly destroyed an alien colony earlier today beneath the Yellow Sea's ocean floor after a pitched fight and significant losses being reported by the organisation. Civilian ships passing through the area have confirmed an explosion that happened to shake the ships. However, X-COM has only reported one survivor from the mission, and even said survivor is said to have been injured during the fight. Local naval forces have intensified patrols over their local waters to keep an eye out for any additional bases in the region.
In other news, gauss weapons have reportedly begun appearing on the various ground forces of national governments, and some have been reported to have been sold on the black market, raising concerns of illegal arms trade across the globe. With the Second Alien War continuing to ravage Earth's oceans, it is only a matter of time until the world has become a different place, for better or worse.

Reports from Chairman Friederich Hanz of the Euro-Syndicate and President Ji Lianbao of Free China have come in that they have supposedly begun cooperation with the aliens. Despite praise from the Cult of Sirius towards these efforts to "bring prosperity with help from our alien friends", violent clashes between local authorities and protesters have erupted in the streets of Free China and the Euro-Syndicate. As a result, analysts fear that these two nations abandoning X-COM could be "destabilising" to the international balance of power and "a grave mistake", given the nature of the aliens from the First Alien War.
In other news, Neo-Japanese naval forces have been reported in a minor skirmish with Free Chinese forces just a few hours ago, as tensions between the two have been reignited over both disputed waters since before the Second Alien War and now, their recent negotiations with the alien forces. Just mere hours after the Euro-Syndicate and Free China abandoned X-COM, the Jannisar was reportedly evacuated by X-COM forces in a pitched fight before the ship was sunk by an alien submarine shortly thereafter. The survivors were returned to their homes, with Captain Connor Stevens telling reporters that "we would have been dead already if X-COM hadn't shown up". As a result, the remaining Committee member states have reportedly stepped up patrols in international waters.

Arqueologist Site reveals ancient Mayan-Gillmen War!
Recent underwater expeditions on the shores of Yucatan, New Mexico Cooperative, have shown ancient traces of a war of the Mayan civilization with the aliens now identified as "Gillmen"!
The submarine NMS Tlatelolco descended to a depth not previously reached thanks to its new protection from Aqua Plastics and found what appears to be a submerged Maya temple. In it, stelae were found with engravings of Mayan warriors fighting with what appear to be Gillmen. It seems that the ancient warriors defeated the aliens in their struggle for control of the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico. X-COM forces have successfully managed to repel an alien attack on the city of Shanghai, with X-COM forces having taken "minimal losses" against the aliens. Authorities in the Federation of Korea have already locked down some of the city's ports until the damage is repaired, with President Ji Song El praising X-COM forces for "protecting Korea's citizens and others around the world wherever they go". Shanghai has already declared a state of emergency until the damage is cleared and due to the ports being locked down, ships approaching the city have been forced to turn back.

After heavy fighting between X-COM forces and alien troops in Miami, the US government has decided to temporarily shut down operations at the ports until the damage from the fighting is repaired. In what President Mead considered as a "successful defense", he has ordered the US military to go into DEFCON 2, after having been at DEFCON 3 for nearly a year. As a result, the US Navy has intensified its patrols in the Caribbean in collaboration with the New Mexican government.
In other news, the Korean Federation has just decided to move its forces into the South China Sea in support of the Neo-Japanese in an attempt to discourage Free China from "conducting rash actions" and "maintain the increasingly fragile peace" in the region. X-COM forces have managed to successfully evacuate the surviving personnel of the New Anchorage earlier today, with the state-owned Alaskan Petroleum and Gas Corporation (APGAC) and Alaskan Premier John McNorth having told Alaskan state owned media that "X-COM has once again proven that it can defend our world's ships, cities, and citizens once again" and that "the people of Alaska owe their gratitude towards those that protect our citizens". However, with the oceans becoming increasingly more dangerous, the APN has taken a more active approach in their anti-alien patrols and Premier McNorth has even begun talks with President Mead to conduct joint patrols in the Pacific.
In other news, a major offensive by Filipino insurgents was launched on the city of Manila earlier today, and other cities across the region. The insurgents, the Chinese National Defence Forces and their new Cult of Sirius allies have seen reports of what has been described as "brutal fighting" in Manila itself. X-COM has reportedly destroyed a newly rebuilt alien colony in the Java Sea, with a new flying submarine model that former SORESO head F. Denmann Williams has nicknamed "the Leviathan". X-COM forces once again took significant losses, but were able to successfully capture an alien commander according to Williams. Comittee Chairman Juan Gonzalez has already announced that X-COM may be nearing a breakthrough soon.
In other news, President Mead and Premier McNorth have recently begun steps to reintegrate Alaska into the US, especially in light of the increased frequency of joint patrols in the Pacific coast of North America. Because, in canon, the next step in the war is the Interlude, when humanity reached The Frontier. Then, XCOM: Interceptor.
I think Earth is very capable of reaching the stars now that we have waged two Alien Wars. I'm thinking about colonizing Mars, Ceres, Europa, Titan and Miranda.

Fair enough, even though Interceptor and Enforcer both broke the canon. So.....
