Title: Them Ratmen are FAST!!!
Post by: Scorrpio on March 08, 2017, 04:43:20 am
My Hyperwave decoder in Asia has just picked up a very small ship, flying 'Ratmen' flag, mission 'Plunder', and moving at a speed like 51452693.  Did not think to take a screenshot, clicked 'center, time 5sec', and it just blinked and was gone...

Anyone seen anything like it?

It's a communications signal (you'll be able to see it with hyperwave decoder), so the speed is supposed to represent it going at the speed of light - electromagnetic waves and all that.  The reason it's classified a shipping is because there's no other way to represent it in the game engine.

Well, I don't think I ever saw a signal in regular openXcom.    Is such signal useful?  I.e.  flying to mentioned region and patrolling might reveal a mission?  Or this is a pogrom precursor of sorts?

Comm Waves are merely a prop to spawn missions in a certain manner that would not normally be allowed by the engine. No point in patrolling the region. The associated mission will pop up on it own.

Sounds good, thanks!
