Title: Capturing Armored Beastmaster

Is there anything widely available that can stun a beastmaster without destroying her suit first? Stun weapons seems to damage the suit. Choking damage seems completely ineffective. Even the psychic attacks I've tried haven't helped.

I have to get one myself but I just plan to control him at the end of a battle.

When you say psychic do you mean control or just other stuff?

I haven't got psi-control yet, just wands and Seductress and Ghost. I guess I can wait until I've developed that tech...

If you enable psi-captures in the advanced options, you can MC a beast master at the end of a battle and get them in their armor that way. I don't know if Dioxine added stuff for the armored beast master, but when I did it in a previous playthrough, it was not as much of a breakthrough as I expected. Very little research is gained from getting an armored one, even though we all think something special will happen since it is difficult to do.

The only things you can learn from an Armored Church Beastmaster are the following:

Armored Church Beastmaster:
Celatid (research . rul)
Reaper (research. rul)
Chryssalid (research . rul)
Conversion

Each of these topics are available from other sources as well, so its no great lack to not ever catch one.

Precisely, they're the same as available from an unarmored Beastmaster. Logically. You only get a few bonus Circuitry when removing the suit, that's all. Some things which are hard to do are well worth the effort. Some are neutral. Some are plain stupid. This belongs to the middle category :)

It does feel like for the effort it currently requires, you ought to get a free suit of armor you can use...

Yeah, but then you'd logically want the same from a captured Bodyguard, Provost and so on.

It's like keeping the wrapping paper pristine when unwrapping presents: It's not worth it! ;)

Once we get a commendation, there should be a "wrapper preserver" award for MC-capturing an armored beastmaster though, in which the text makes fun of the player for thinking it would be worth it.

lol, for a kid it's not worth it. I don't expect it would be for a pirate either (unless it's a pretty tought wrapper she can wrap herself in) ;) For the economic/environment-ally inclined, sure ;) I try to preserve it too, but usually that annoys my family :P
