However as soon as the research on the Carcharodon corspe is completed the game crashes to the desktop. Obviously I can work around this by not completing the research but beyond that I'm unsure why it crashes. Would updating to the latest nightly help? Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
ps If this is the wrong place for this post, apologies.

Sounds to me like you have either:
1 - A bug in the research projects that are given by the research. If the research allows new manufacturing/UFOPaedia entries that don't exist, the game will crash on completion.
2 - A badly made UFOPaedia article, which is referencing resources that don't exist.
Either of the above is not unlikely to be because of interference between mods. I'd say it's quite likely that it has nothing to do with the core OXC engine.

You have "lookup: STR_CARCHARODON_AUTOPSY" but no actual STR_CARCHARODON_AUTOPSY research topic.

Thanks SupSuper, that did it, have ammended the research.rul file within the RULESET folder of Carcharodons 0.5-attached. For the attention of XOPS and anyone else having this crash.

SIMON, you should add your post to the root topic so that ppl who want to play it can see the fix.

Sorry about that, see https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,4205.0/topicseen.html
