I have been asked the following question on my video:

Nice to see that it looks like we're winning this Base Defense! And I wouldn't be afraid of looking "cheesy." There's nothing cheesy about avoiding hits from Heavy Plasmas and Blaster Launchers. I somehow wish it would be possible to call upon wounded soldiers to fight in Base Defense missions. Don't know if this is possible, but it would be a lot better than just having them vanish from sickbay, should the mission go wrong...

@all: What do you think? Does it make sense or not?

I'm not sure it's so trivial, because when a BattleUnit leaves battlefield with missing HP, the related Soldier is assigned a number of "sick days" which are determined by the number of missing HP multiplied by a random factor between 50% and 150% . The number of missing HP is 'lost', as far as I know.
-> On base defense, you can reassign missing HP as "number of sick days", it's statistically OK, but you'll need to clip at 1 HP so unlucky guys don't start with negative HP
-> on battle end, the number of "sick days" will be recomputed - but even if the soldier was not further wounded, the random factor will make it a different number...

I say Let's do it like this perhaps:
- Calling wounded would, obviously, need to have consequences, agrreviating their wounds. Wounded people fight at their own risk.
- So, their wounds are maximized (they lose HP = 2*remaining Sickbay days, as if they rolled the fastest recovery time when they were hit. OR, to add chaos factor, make it *1.5 - still a lot but there is a slight chance the mission will actually lowere their sickbay time :) )
- If they'd be down to below 1 HP, they cannot fight, that's it.
- variation of the above: they won't fight if their HP would go below their (110-Bravery)/4 (12 for a 60 Bravery soldier, 25 for a 10 Bravery soldier, 2 for a 100 Bravery soldier)
- Make it an option accessible from before the battle, with a soldier-by-soldier list stating how much HP they will lose when pressed into service, and you decide on each one.
- Option: since you cannot change armor if attacked by surprise, and these people were all in beds, all sick fight in a ruleset-defined armor (default their STR_NONE_UC)

Heh, I made it configurable and turned off by default... you can just leave it turned off with these conditions :)

I agree with HP lost = 1.5 * wound recovery time.
If below 1, it would stay at 1... in my opinion even more cruel than leaving them behind, because they die when somebody even looks at them.
They can keep the armor IMO... every good soldier should keep their armor and weapons near the sickbay bed... just in case.

EDIT: I think I will also make them start with only 75 morale and half the energy

PS: poor Hebi, she barely got up from bed and already the game put her alone into the hangar (there were no spawn places left anymore) facing 8 enemies on turn 1 with half HP ;-) See attached screenshot

I'd rather like a simple rule like "soldiers with less than 15 sick days remaining can stay and fight", as it culls the extreme cases.

We need a hospital gown armor  ;D

Wheelchair could be hilarous, but the base is not wheelchair-accessable.

Wheelchairs have brakes, that should be enough. I'm more concerned about it tipping over, but I'm no expert on recoil.

The brakes are good enough for rank-and-file soldiers, but for the heavies, I think we need retraceable supports mounted on these wheelchairs, Chief Engineer! Get to it!

I'd assume that XCom soldiers wouldn't use wheeled wheelchairs, they'd go for tracked ones. Trackchairs, I guess.
