Title: Italian translation for TFTD
Post by: seoqud163 on November 18, 2015, 03:32:22 pm
Hi,
since the Italian TFTD translation seems to be kinda dead, I reckoned I could give a hand.

I made what I think is a rough draft. It's complete, but I want to hear some opinions. Stuff like formatting, grammar, wrong accents and especially how it compares to the existent TFTD translation I think already exists. There are some terms that I felt weren't really correct in the old one (stuff like 'torpedo' when 'siluro' already exists as a word) but I don't really want to overdo it. Mostly, it's because how the original translated file is formatted that makes it a pain to compare, at least for me, but again, I don't want to take too many liberties.

I'm attaching it, in the meanwhile. If you want/prefer, I can already post it on Transifex.

Hi,
The italian translation still don't work.
The "it.yml" file that is supplied with OpenXCOM project is corrupted for some reasons that I did not discover yet (a reason could be that "it:" statement is missing, but insert that don't fix the problem).

I tried the seoqud163 file and it works.
So, thanks man ;), now I could start to play in Italian.

But the translation does not satisfy me so much.
I'm now joining transifex to help translating this game.

I only hope the OpenXCOM staff will fix this issue about the file they supply.

I suggest you report it through the bug tracker... The devs don't spend that much time on the forums.

Apparently, that was an issue all translations had due to Transifex changing their format, making them unreadable to OpenXCOM. It should be fixed right now. And thanks for doing the reviewing and editing by the way; I ended up uploading my translation anyway, and tried to do some fixing and checking, but I always had the impression something would pass through.

Thanks to you to have opened my way.
I thought I could accomplish the work in few hours...
I'm spending so much time of my life in that!!! :o ... and I am just halfway.  :'(
Don't blame me if I changed so much things in your translations, but somethings was needful.
I'm starting soon to play with what I've done and I'll problably see many mistakes I've done.
Since you have more experience, we could work together if you consider it right. For example if you find my any mistakes.

After 2 months I fully translated the entire game of TFTD.
I corrected every error and checked if senteces fit in every textbox (I think).
Some Ufopaedia items are not very pleasant to see, because I kept the original English formats.
And I edited some interceptor status with newlines for a better view. There are warnings on Transifex, but as I've done it's the better way.
I've checked the OpenXcom and installer sections, too. 8)
Hope I did a good job  :D
