My git was acting stupid and it may have attempted a checkin against master. It was supposed to be against my local repository, but....

Please keep me out of there.

"checkin"? This should not affect anyone until you push anything out. Second, you can only push to yours repositories, nobody will be affected until they want pull your changes from your repository.

Did you manage push any thing that you are now embarrassed about it? You can always push with "-f" that can overwrite history, but remember Internet will never forget :D
