Title: Cluster Bombs?
Post by: ivandogovich on September 11, 2014, 06:12:44 am
Has anyone attempted this before?  Can an item produce multiple explosions in a target area?

I'm envisioning an Heavy Plasma clip wired as an IED that detonates a number of small individual explosions.

A shotgun like weapon set to explosive damage using the shotgunPellets rule can cause multiple explosions. Don't think it will work with a grenade type item though.

I think the shotgun pellets cannot cause explosive damage, unless it has been overhauled recently.

Must have been. I just doubled checked moments ago and I killed a floater with an explosive shotgun along with a good chunk of the terrain.

Happy days :) Now this gives me some ideas...

Hmm, unsure if it works properly/fully... seems that only one pellet is doing HE/Incendiary damage, the others - ??? I've killed someone with a single 4-pellet Incendiary shot so he must've received more than single dose of incendiary damage... However, these incendiary pellets destroyed some wooden walls as well (???)...

shotgun use "direct bullets hit" function for pellets. This mean no explosions. Fixing it will require rewriting hit handling because it can't be more than one explosion at time.

Perhaps the explosive device could use the shotgun pellets to simulate a Claymore instead?

Should still have an area-effect, but not require explosive damage, right?

Shotgun pellets are hack used in one place by singe bullet weapon, this code can't be used by explosion of item.
You can create similar code there, but again we will have "(...) will require rewriting hit handling".
