Title: [SOUND] PlayStation Sound Effects
Post by: SupSuper on August 26, 2014, 02:31:18 am
Since the PlayStation version of the game is an improved port of the original, I decided to try ripping its sounds for OpenXcom. The result is much more high-quality sound, while still maintaining the feel of the original. :)

Download here: https://www.openxcom.com/mod/playstation-sound-effects

To install just extract it to your "OpenXcom\data" folder and enable the PSXSounds mod.

It appears that the pitch of the SFX is screwed up...

It's messed up for me too. They all sound very shrill and high-pitched.

Weird, maybe the PSX applies some kind of post-processing to the sounds? I tried two different rippers, PSound and PsxSnd, and they both output the same result.

G-g-g-gravedig!

Sup, I've pitch-shifted these back down 'til they sound "about right" to my ears, if you want to re-up them.
