Title: [AI] Alien Remix
Post by: Hobbes on July 09, 2014, 02:59:34 am
Latest version is 0.4, available at the Mod Portal

EDIT: This mod is dead and I don't have the .zip file anymore - I deleted my account at the mod portal months ago and I can't find a copy on my computer files.

This mod adds mixed races to all of the regular missions in the game. There are 36 possible new alien crews:
* The original races combined in pairs (eg. Sectoid/Floater)
* The primary race with a different terror race (eg. Sectoid/Chryssalid)
* Multi race mixed crews with more than two primary races

In addition the information displayed on the Hyperwave Decoder will be less precise: only one of the primary races in the pairs will be displayed and the terror race will never be revealed. Multi-race crews will be described as Mixed.

This mod uses the Muton Commander (https://www.openxcom.com/mod/muton-commander) mod, created by Phaedris.

Very nice. I'll give this a try on my next go-through.

I am wondering, how you do it, to get the bigger overview of the map... I tried many settings for openxcom, but they all show me either a smaller area or size down the contents. How do you do that?

My resolution is set to 1366x768, and Battlescape Scale is set to 1.5xOriginal

Ah, I see. Doesn't seem to take the desired effect on the menu immediately, but after finishing the mission, also the menu is zoomed back to a more readable size. Thanks a lot!

Sounds great. Will this work with the cover Alien Mod?

I'm having a problem with this mod.  I'm trying to assault a landed battleship with a mixed crew, but OpenXcom always crashes when trying to generate the mission.

I tried it again using the mission generator, attempting a battleship mission with some of the listed Mixed crews.  A few of them crashed the game upon trying to start.

I thought it might be the Muton Commander since the ruleset for it is missing from your mod, but downloading the Muton Commander didn't seem to change anything.  So I'm stuck.  I could just let the battleship go, but then what if some other mission (alien base, base defense, etc.) with a mixed crew just crashes?

BBHood, just in case: what other mods are you using?

Just got it. 4 of the Mixed crews (1.2, 1.3, 2.2 and 2.3) had a typo and were trying to add a COMMMANDER unit. I've fixed this on 0.4, which I just uploaded.

Thanks for the heads-up :)

BBHood, just in case: what other mods are you using?

Luke's UFO and Terror Site maps, and Moriarty's power/flying armor graphic.  Neither interfere with Alien Remix, I think.

But moot point, 0.4 :D

I was about to ask if I can just update and then continue my game, but I've decided to just start over.  I wanna try some other mods anyway.

Hi, Hobbes. I can't use the mod portal to download Alien Remix because the mod portal site is down.

I'd just read the whole thread about it (1-12 posts).

Is there a chance to add a dropbox link or download attachment for this mod so that I or anyone can download and get the mod on the forums instead while waiting for the mod portal to come.

Yes or no? :)

This old mod is a crumb of the current masterpiece of Hobbes named Area 51

The bits of the original mod are contained in the endless war mod as I spotted the .rul file in there when searching through my own downloads on my pc.
