Title: Add Sound Test in Options
Post by: Mr. Quiet on April 10, 2014, 12:43:58 am
Can we have a Sound Test option, so we can test Music and sound effects within the game?
My classic GBA games have a sound test option to play your favorite tracks ;) that was neat. I guess if it's not that necessary, you could make this an unlockable after beating the game once?

I'll add my problem here too:

I'm testing a music track I just made for Terror-Site Briefings, but it plays in super slow motion instead of normal speed.

The sound file below. I had to keep shrinking the damn file because your forum doesn't like the size. >_< >_< but it's up now.

Change the file type from .mpg to .mp3

Thanks everyone!

Edit: The file I uploaded did work. It might have to do with the quality, because this one is 96kps, while my original file was 48k, then 44k, both being super slow to play. This is the first time it has happened too :( Thanks all.

the sample rate is most likely the cause of the problem. iirc 11025 works best, but this should probably be looked into

SDL_Mixer should automatically convert between differing rates, but I'll have a look.

As for a sound test, hmmm... that would fill out the Audio screen nicely. ;)

What would the test sound be?

Can we use the Wilhelm scream? If not, I propose a "Meow!"  :p

Edit: Found one right here: https://archive.org/details/WilhelmScreamSample

that's not quite what he's suggesting. he means a facility to play all the available sound effects and music tracks loaded into the game to verify they work, not a random cat sound effect to test your settings.
