Title: Muton terrorist units - not too dangerous? - latest nightly builds?
Post by: kharille on March 29, 2014, 11:06:46 pm
Whats the name of that floating bag?  I was playing on one of the latest builds and one of my rookies got hit several times with the acid spit.  I remember this was dangerous.  Can we check on that?  I'm happy about the new picture for reaper attacks and all.  Also the silacoids didn't seem to do much damage, my rookies got hit several times and didn't appear to take any damage.

It's a Celatid.
Yes, they are hardcore. Are you saying they are simply too dangerous, or is there something wrong with them?
I realize they were much more docile in the original game, but I think they work correctly now.

What I mean is my rookies are surviving these attacks, multiple attacks even.  That's what's bothering me.  Celatid are supposed to melt those rookies as intended, not spray them with vinegar....  And the silacoids don't seem to be doing much close in.....

Guess I better try again.....  to be sure....

in my testing, celatids prove deadly as hell on anything but beginner difficulty.

Mutons: "Shit, what the hell does that leave us? A kidney and a rock? Screw you guys, we don't need secondary units".

Ah, that let's play. It should be obligatory reading in these parts. :)

pretty sure the problem was related to https://openxcom.org/bugs/openxcom/issues/492 (https://openxcom.org/bugs/openxcom/issues/492) and as such it should now be fixed.

Ok, the Celatid is deadly.  But the silicoid hit my solider 9 times in 3 turns, no damage whatsoever...

Hm..  maybe I should try out that bug reporting function...  should I upload my save file?

Even then silicoids aren't that deadly anyway with their low movespeed and low damage but that is just vanilla xcom, can always mod it to actually make them a credible threat.

Hey, it wasn`t meant in vanilla, to have a big threat by silacoids.

Please keep it the way it is.  ;)

Not a big threat.  My rookies are meant to drop like red shirts...  My main guys of course, are at the back with Blaster launchers...
