This mod enables the doll image of aliens to be seen in the inventory screen, when they are mind-controlled.
Warboy already pushed the small change of the program source that is needed, so it is in the git master.
To install this, just simply uncompress the zip, and copy the Ruleset/ and Resource/ dirs to your data dir, and add the " - AlienInventory" to the openxcom.cfg file.
In case you want to recreate the images or test, see the howto_and_test directory that is in the zip.
The mask used to hide the blue/white gradient background from the ufopaedia images comes from ufo2000.
edit: added 2.0 version

Really , we can finally use the images i created, what a great day......I also recreated all the images from both UFO and TFTD and there stored on the MOD site, i will need to look at how you did this so i can update my download page.
-
Now I found the images on your mod site - you really have all of them!
Including inventory images required a small patch to the code, but now it is very easy through a ruleset file with version > 2013-06-01.
-
I'd like to vote for this to become part of the official branch as an option :)
-
Making that official could be possible only after permission from copyright holders. Your vote, or mine, or of anyone else from here means nothing.
-
You can always just build "Options " into the ruleset as officially supported and provide a link to get them from whatever 3rd party source, this makes thing easier for the casual gamer and keeps OXC's piracy policy intact.
"Now I found the images on your mod site - you really have all of them!"
I thought it was important to try to support both games as much as possible , only other thing i need to do ( unless someone more talented than me wants to help) to do Civilian support for TFTD.

as far as I have understood, the mod uses the existing UFOpaedia images, only applying a mask to black out the background. no copyright issues involved, just in-game graphics re-used. am I right? if so, your argument is invalid, Volutar.
if, however, the mod uses external images, of course that could pose a copyright issue.

Currently the mod uses external images, which are modified versions of ufopaedia images. So it is a copyright problem.
However, if somebody could do this image manipulation (applying the mask, resizing, moving it to the correct position, applying the correct palette) from inside game (as it is already done for the soldiers' hair color), then it could be included in the master branch. If it would be implemented this way, it would only use the original ufopaedia data, and the mask, which is not originally copyrighted. (I used the mask from ufo2000, but that is gpl. Moreover, it can easily be recreated.)

some of them need some redrawing/fixing up, i'll get on it after i finish what i'm working on right now.
-
really what ones, i thought i fixed any issues that people had found wrong with them.
-
the sectopod was one example that jumped out at me, the wires on the legs need redrawing, and the colouring on most of the armour is slightly off (it goes into a pink shade instead of continuing the tan coloured gradient), and there were a couple of errant black pixels that i didn't like the looks of. the canopy could use some touching up, as it just LOOKS rescaled. some of the edges need refining, and some of it needs flat out recolouring, because it looks like the palette transition didn't go too well.
i didn't really have a chance to look at the others.
-
do you have the originals laying around anywhere? the ones i've extracted from the spk files are a bit... dodgy, they don't look as good as the ones you posted here: https://opengameart.org/forumtopic/inventory-screren-openxcom but these are ruined by jpeg compression.
-
Why are you extraction them again from SPK ? should have, original here somewhere i will look
-
Here are some, dont ask me if there the newest versions, there are a few different versions floating around :P
Was there something wrong with having them in the original game format? To me this sounded like a easy solution, keep them in orignal format and link them up, sure at the time High resolution was only a dream, if any talented artists want t redo these i wont be offended ;)
-
That zombie looks hi-res and super cool! I wish we could begin building high-resolution graphics for OpenXCOM in 1280x1024 pixel resolution. Now that would be awesome!

Warboy has done some magic cleaned up some of my dodgy images ( lets face it , i am not a artist) and has provided me a Download pack, i will upload them to the Mod site later tongiht.
