Title: Problem with moving the camera
Post by: Elf_7 on December 11, 2023, 01:19:24 am
Hello,

I am completely new to the game, I only played XCOM enemy unknown but I always loved DOS games and learned about this game.

The game performs fine, I patched it with the last openxcom UFO patch replacing the files, but the problem is, every time I am in a battle, whenever I try to move the mouse, it moves so quickly that I can't play the map. It always moves to the dark undiscovered zone and than I can't see where my troops are.

Sorry if it's a dumb question, as I said I am a rookie.

I tried reducing my DPI to the minimum and  but it moves way too fast and a slight movement take me to the edge of the map.

Options -> Battlescape -> Scroll speed

Try adjusting that to something more comfortable

Hmmm I must be doing something wrong because I don't have any of these options even after replacing the game with openxcom files... not sure why

Can you provide a screenshot of your options?

I assume I am not applying the patch correctly? I have a folder called xcomufo with the game, I dropped the openxcom files there, replaced all the files but I don't know where to get more options. When clicking options inside the game (in the earth map screen) I only get that.

Wait... are you still launching the game with the original executable? If so, you should be using the openxcom one of whatever version you've installed.

I get the feeling that you haven't actually installed it and just replaced who knows what. Get the installer for your system here for OXCE (https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,5258.0.html) altho, you might want to clean your original install by removing everything and reinstalling whatever version you're using, just in case the replaced files end up causing issues.
