Title: [SUGGESTION] Global Variable for Research Cost
Post by: Daev on February 18, 2023, 11:50:49 pm
Would it be possible to add a global variable that multiplies the cost of research items by the global variable? one that you can define per difficulty?

For example

Beginner COST*.75
Experienced COST*.8
Veteran COST*1
Genius COST*1.5
Superhuman COST*2

Would allow for difficulty to also scale game length dynamically

This feature sounds like it would only be useful to players, not modders.

If a moddable research cost multiplier is added, then it should be stand-alone setting, not bound to game difficulty settings. That's because a player may not necessarily want a shorter+easier game or a longer+harder game. They could also have a shorter+harder or a longer+easier game.

You do mention another interesting concept tho - Game Length. I wonder if a player-adjustable Game Length setting has already been discussed in the past.

As for the multiplier for the difficulty level - it is doubtfully useful. But the cost of research in money would be useful. This is where a multiplier for the difficulty level would come in handy.
