Title: Battlescape Request : Who Died?
Post by: pmprog on January 12, 2013, 07:01:29 pm
I lot of people die in XCOM, and one thing APOC did, which the previous two don't is give you an "event history", listing who's been killed etc.

It would be nice to have some sort of non-blocking (doesn't pause the game waiting a click) alert to name the dead soldier, or maybe just on the review screen at the end of the mission.

I would like to see some sort of battle log with deaths and kills.
It is always good to know who just had been killed.

I agree, knowing who got killed is good, and i think it would simple enough to added to the mission log.

You mean after the battle?
I want to see it during the battle.

This is useful for live translations. The audience immediately want to know who died.
I had such an experience with TFTD.
Each aquanaut was named after some of my viewers. And when they die, it is a pain to find out who that was exactly.

This is different from videos on Youtube.
There you can easily rewind.

in that case a simple notification window could work. or maybe a "live" battle log with in the battlespace GUI, something you can click and will show the main events in combat,
Agent A kill Alien A
Alien B Kills Agent A

and so forth. and then at the end of the mission the log stating how died who got promoted, you know the standard stuff.

Exactly my purpose.

So you have a TFTD LP? On YouTube or something? Got a link?

I think it's similar to this request as well: https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,285.0.html

Has anyone picked up this request by any chance?
It'd be nice if it was visible in-battle over the debriefing screen, just because that's when you see them get shot is when you want to know so you can yell at the screen as your best solider is brutally murdered

Edit: There's a battleNotifyDeath flag, I've just switched this on, maybe do what I need :)

I did tell you. (https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,827.msg8822.html#msg8822) :P It's no memorial room but at least it notifies you who dies right on the moment so you can keep track.

Yeah, I saw that, hence the edit :) I must have forgotten - and I had deleted my original settings file after updating my git source because of all the changes. All set back up now :) I think
