Hey so i recently created a thread about trying to access the original game files on mac through steam, but instead i just downloaded the dos version online which has all the files accessible, I copied them into the resources folder where the readme txt file said to but once i hit run it still gives me an error saying it can't find the GEODATA/WORLD.DAT and earlier it said it couldn't find PALETTE.DAT but they're definitely in there I checked for both. Curious what I can do, perhaps i copied them into the wrong directory somehow or I'm using the wrong version of OpenXcom.
EDIT: Oh it also says "Failed to load UFO Enemy Unknown mod disabled for next startup" before it notes the missing files not sure what this is about.

If I remember correctly, you should get Collector's Edition, not earlier DOS versions.

Now I'm just getting a no Installations found, I DL'd a collectors version.

...delete everything and start again.

Can you make a couple of screenshots to show, where are the files located?

I'll post them a little later gonna get someone to get the files for me on windows from my steam version instead of getting them from a random DOS version on the internet and retry ill post pictures then

Still a no installation error so I have to be just doing something wrong.

Move the *contents* of 'XCom UFO Defense/XCOM' folder *into* UFO folder
Make sure it contains, for example, the GEODATA folder

I actually already tried moving the contents into UFO like this, still the same error.

One more directory down the line and it will work.
(=move contents of XCOM to UFO)

Ah yes I tried this with the janky DOS version and it didn't work but it did with the steam version I just got the files for thanks so much!
