Title: Retaliation mission question
Post by: nrafield on February 19, 2017, 04:37:51 pm
So it is known that the more facilities a base has, the more likely it is to be found when it's targetted by retaliation. But, how exactly does it work? Does an UFO search for a particular base in an area, or all of them? If I have a fully built up base with no mind shields, and a half-built up base with 2 mind shields in the same area, how likely is it that the aliens will find the second base instead of the first one?

UFO doesn't search for a particular base... it searches for any base in its flight path.

There is no correlations between the two bases from your example.

If a ufo finds a given base depends on:
- whether it flies near it... if not, it cannot find it at all
- how big is the base
- how many mind shields it has

If a ufo finds a given base depends on:
- whether it flies near it... if not, it cannot find it at all

This is the detection range for ufos searching for XCom bases

The circle shows the minimum distance required for detection. The closer the UFO gets near a base on its flight path, the bigger the chance of detection.

- how big is the base
- how many mind shields it has

This is the formula used for the detection chance: (completedFacilities / 6 + 15) / (mindShields + 1)
