Title: Siren Specific Armours Mod

I've descided to experiment with a mod to add a new type of Gal to XPiratez.

One of the things I want if for this type of gal to have their own selection of armours that ONLY they can use.

Is this possable and if so how do I put it in the ruleset?

Yes, it's possible. You need to add this in the armour:

Code: [Select]
    units:
      - STR_SOLDIER_TYPE

You replace STR_SOLDIER_TYPE with the actual name of the gal type.

If you want your new gal type to be unable to wear standard armours, then you'll have to add this to all standard armours:

    units:
      - STR_SOLDIER
      - STR_SOLDIER_S
      - STR_SOLDIER_M

It should work anyway, I don't have much experience with this but that's how I did my dogs-as-soldiers in X-Com Files.

Ok

Here's the Mod Idea - After you contact the Retuculans, you can hire/recrute Sirens as gals - but due to the size diffrence they have to have their own armours.

I am at 0.1 alpha state at the moment.

I so approve of this :)

EDIT: I have a Pedia pic which might be just right for the advance that unlocks it (and maybe inspire you for some armor design - Sirens don't like clothes all that much :) )

I think it would be reasonable for the more piecemeal outfits to be useful regardless of the Gal size.  Though given that you'll probably need to have some more or less peaceful conversations with the Reticulans to get these Sirens, chances are you'll be way beyond anything that isn't fitted.

Yes, I imagine most Pirate armours to be available for Sirens - after all, they're both humanoids. I can't think of an outfit that a Siren would be unable to wear, or certainly wouldn't want to wear.
But obviously we have limited resources, so I agree we shouldn't start with things like Rags...

On a side note, don't forget to give them Siren's death scream. :)

Your both right(ish), for most of the cloth based armours (pirate, scout, novice, swimsuit ect) you might not need to manfacture siren specific versions.

However, the ones with hard metal plates/solid pieces (Defender, BioSuit ect) will need to be specally made for the sirens.

The only problem is the time needed to create the Inventory Images and Sprites for this mod, so don't expect everything in the first release.


Dioxine - That's a fitting image, is it posable to get a un-resized jpeg copy - I've been playing round with the custom pallet stuff Meredian has put into OXE+, I'd like to see if I can get it to work.

You'd find it faster through reverse search, I think... my databases are vast and searching takes time. Give me a shout if you can't find it.

They're short and wide, the top of their hips and their waist is very low relative to the top of their legs, their shoulders are unrealistically broad. The male body is closer to realism yet way off, while the female body ignores all skeletal differences between men and women and simply tries (poorly) to slap boobs on a slightly skinnier male body--it makes the body thinner by deleting the inside seam.

Would be nice if a pixel artist could re-do the base images to keep the original design of the looks while making the base shape of the bodies look more like humans. I'd like something like this to be incorporated as a default mod in the base openxcom.

Not Quite - I have 6 sets of armour ready, but only 3 have sprites ATM.

I'll post as soon as I can, but right now, I've got other things that take priority (Job and Family)
