Post by: BorntobeMild on April 04, 2016, 03:00:15 am
I know Python, Java, and how to lose at X-COM, is there any way I can help the OpenXcom project?

hi there, welcome to the forums!

right now we're trying to tie everything down for a 2.0 release, which mostly means bug fixes, so if you notice any bugs, please report them on the tracker.
if you're keen on scripting languages, you might want to look at the stuff falko's made and perhaps iterate a bit on that? modders could use some solid tools for hammering out their efforts with.

So true! Falko's tools are still the best, but some of them are a bit outdated.

Omg. Yes!  Falko's Tools!

With Python, you can easily parse the Yaml of the rulesets/save files, so there is opportunity to set up things like
"custom weapon editor"  With a gui that might let you fill in all of the pieces, with some explanation (ie from the ruleset reference on Ufopaedia.org)
