Title: Lost TFTD Weapon mod...
Post by: bigjackskid on February 03, 2016, 03:36:20 pm
chaosshade made me a mod last year which made all underwater only weapons usable above. Does this still exist somewhere? I had to reformat my laptop.

it's pretty simple to recreate it, just flag all the weapons as "underwaterOnly: false"

Since I already had this done for myself, attached below is my own little "fix" to the problem: HJC, Torpedo Launcher, DPL and both Coela/Jet & Displacer/PWT can now operate on land. UFOpedia entries also adjusted to reflect this.

To clarify, you just need to go into OXC-->Standard-->Xcom2-->items.rul
Something as simple as Notepad will suffice. Simply alter every instance of underwater only: true to false.

NEVER modify root files, always make mods.

Oh really? I was originally told to change that by an OCX member, no less than SupSuper.

When you modify a root file, it gets changed back to the original each time you apply a new update patch (ie a new nightly.)  That's why you need to make mods instead.

If you make a mod and screw it up, nothing bad happens, you can disable either whole or part of it. If you screw up root files, you might be unable to track down your changes and forced to completely erase all progress you've made. Also, your changes to root files might screw up any third mods you're using.
