Does anyone know what these blue and red things are ? :P Are they recoverable?
Or only for decoration?
-
They are identified as fuel pods here (https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=Explosions#Explosive_Map_Objects), but I'm not sure where the idea comes from. They could be ammo (elerium?) pods for UFO plasma weapons as well. Either would make sense for an odd thing that blows up when shot at.

The Ufopaedia says that they (and other exploding tiles) blow up doing stun damage, not HE damage. Is it true for OpenXCom too?
-
This is imprecise. Tiles can blow up doing either HE or Smoke damage, as far as I know from MCDEdit. Smoke is, naturally, stun damage... But not very potent, to say the least.

Yeah sorry, I meant smoke.
And that's precisely the problem: 1) it's not an efficient tactic to blow up barrels next to the enemy, 2) many units (like all vanilla aliens) are immune to smoke.

Well, you can edit them to do explosive damage in the MCD's :)

Incendiary would be more fun.

My family figured they are probably Alien Entertainment, along with the white orb objects with a flashy red top, but we never confirmed it. The colorful walls in some base and craft segments also appear to count as Alien Entertainment.
