Title: How do I install the nightlys?

I've read the instructions, and I've asked around on Reddit, but I still have no idea how to install the nightly!  Seriously, someone, please, take my hand and guide me through this step by step!  I'm using Windows 8 and a Steam copy of UFO Defense.

I will help, but only if you promise you will reply afterwards, what was it you did wrong...

0. turn on your PC, log in, make sure you are connected to the Internet
1. download latest nightly build from here: https://openxcom.org/git-builds/
2. put it on your desktop
3. extract the content of the archive
4. go into the subfolder called "UFO"
5. open the "README.txt" file... it says which files from the Steam game you need to copy over
6. copy the files
7. run by double-clicking on "OpenXcom.exe"
8. enjoy

You can check also a video I made earlier... it shows more than just this, the only part you need is between 02:24 and 04:17, please ignore the rest.

same forme done everything you said i click the exe and nothing happens but a spinny load symbol next tomy cursor :'(

better yet i have 12 openxcom exe's running in the background in my taskmanager doing nothing...... cant end them cant open them. awsome  :)

yea been fucking about with this all day now awsome work pitty i never got a chance to actually play it

mine has been doing the same thing for me; i got some more info from it by disabling my AVAST! Pro antivirus software. It still does not run, saying it cannot find TERRAIN/BLANKS.TAB

this is a fresh install no mods

EDIT: got it, when I was copying files over, it didn't like the terrain folder for some reason.

You need to DL the master version; 1.0. it has a bunch of .DLL file you need, copy them into the file with the .exe

Sounds like your antivirus is blocking it.

After a few hours finialy got it working. had to disable avast unistall xcom ufo + tftd from steam, re install everything. bobs your uncle cheers guys !  :) :) :) :) :) :)
