Just a question - does the accuracy dropoff option affect reaction fire or not? For that matter, how does reaction fire work in general - which shot option does it use? Snap, aimed, something else entirely?
-
Reaction fire is always snap shots, and yes, UFOextender accuracy affects it.
-
Gotcha. I figured I'd check - aliens seem to have rather frightening accuracy when reacting from far off, but that might just be confirmation bias.
-
I think (absolutely not sure) that UFOextender accuracy only applies to XCOM, not to aliens.
-
Well, that kinda sucks.
{if that's the case, anyway}
Any way it can be changed?
-
Really? I was getting murdered by reaction fire from aliens and turned on the accuracy option to compensate. I thought that it made a difference.
I know that reaction shots are always snap shots for XCom but can be auto-shots for aliens. I am pretty sure that they are affected by the accuracy option.
It would be interesting to find out exactly what is applied. Especially when it comes to defining snap range and auto-range for weapons, as that could cripple aliens if it is applied to them but they don't take it into account when choosing which firing mode to use.

wrong. 2 points for correct use of conjecture.
it DOES apply to aliens.

wrong. no points awarded due to use of the term: "i know".
ALL reaction shots are snap shots, regardless.
to set the record straight:
yes it affects reaction fire.
yes it affects aliens.
reaction fire can ONLY be snap shot.
The AI chooses which shot type to use based on range, so for all intents and purposes, they account for the difference it makes.

Wait, I'm confused now.
"The AI chooses which shot type to use based on range, so for all intents and purposes, they account for the difference it makes."
Does that mean the AI has a choice of which type of shot to make? And if that's the case, does that mean that reaction fire is not always snapshot?
-
it's not complicated.
i mentioned TWICE in the post that reaction fire is ALWAYS snap shot.
so then how would i be talking about reaction fire in this statement?

simple - i wasn't. This refers to the AI making a shooting attack against you on its own turn, NOT reaction fire.

Well, I "knew" it from the ufopaedia, which someone ninja corrected before I could quote it. Warboy, Champion of the Truth!
Thanks for the correction!
