Experiment for a dolphin scout, underwater equivalent of the german shepherd.
The top row has a pod, you can assume it's a camera like in "Life Aquatic" movie, or a voice activated sonic weapon :)

Haha! Cute! And quite powerful assuming it can swim. Is TftD coming soon enough that it is time to start modding it? :o

Holy shit I am on board!!!
Okay... I know this sounds cheesy as hell, but remember SeaQuest DSV?
:)

This dolphin in the sprite sheet looks too... cartoon and artifical.
Probably better use sprites from game Ecco the Dolphin? -- 3 variations exist.

Right... As all XCOM universe graphics: cartoonish, comic-like, and artificial.
Though the graphics from #0 is a little bit too flat, but I'm sure it can be easily fixed.

No, it's not better, Ecco is flat (2D) console game with copyrighted assets.
These sprites simply don't fit XCOM ecosystem.

It's first draft, to motivate TFTD modders :) It's true that it's way too flat at this point, I tested with a screenshot of the original game.
Thanks a lot for Ecco reference. I couldn't find front/back views in google image, and even without ripping from these sprites, they'r helpful to find a way to shade.

Ok this is a really old thread, but, hey.... is anyone working on this? or is it free to take?
-
It was just a stupid idea : It's going to look very weird when your base is attacked and your flying dolphins float around.
But feel free to take over the concept and/or re-use and modify the sprites for anything.

You can restrict tanks (and it would have to be made as one) to underwater use.
But as my old personal megamod does no longer work under the newest nightlies I will stick to my old installation with a 2.4 Extended exe and forget about anything newer.
tldr: i will not make mods anymore :)
