Post by: Mr_Robot on November 20, 2014, 12:44:48 am
So it says that I need a vanilla version of the game to run openxcom, but no mac version exists of the original game !?!?!! And there are apparently an openxcom version for mac?
How do I get this to work?

Please someone help me, I have missed this game for far to long now.

The adjective "vanilla" means the original game, straight as distributed (ie: Without any third-party maps, graphic replacements, etc.)
Three different versions are known to be ok for use with OpenXCOM, see here:

Thanks for the reply.

I get the part that openxcom is an add-on the original game, but I'm on a mac so non of the original versions of the game can be installed.
The installation guide on the openxcom site just says i need to dump the files into a folder but what good does that do me when I don't have the game.

You can't run any of those, but you should still be able to see the files and directories.

easiest way would be buying the game on steam and ..
.. install it in macos
if thats not possible
.. install it on a win pc of a friend and copy the files via net/usb stick to your mac
