Ok, so I'm not that serious but surely we need to create a salary system. I'm not surprised morale is down since everyone is paid the same. Hey, maybe if you raise the soldier salary, maybe Bravery will go up slightly.
Oh, and don't those guys ever resign? Maybe the Aliens can pinch your soldiers for a higher salary?

As an option, sure.
Perhaps even a by-mission bonus? :)

how about: each rank+ = +$5000 salary

Congratulations, soldier! You scored your first hit on an alien scum!
Here's a 100% rise.

its a 25% raise (base salary 20k/month)
less makes such mechanic unnoticable

They'll start applying for leave and demanding better insurance benefits.
Maybe a slider for modifying salaries? I'm sure a morale 60 guy who is unhappy with his pay will run at the first opportunity. And if you pay a low morale guy enough....
At least officers should get a higher salary, and ideally I'd pick the promotions.

...I think I played Piratez too much.

While payment can keep a soldier on your team, I don't think it's meaningful enough to boost their morale in battle. X-Com operatives aren't dwarves (Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold, gold...). :)

No no no, I think soldiers should be promoted by honest procedures! :)

When a soldier is victim of psychic attack or sees his teammate vaporized by a plasma burst, I'm not sure he can think "Oh but I got a raise, so there's nothing to panick about".
