Hi,
today I started testing the alien bases.
The layout seems buggy:
1. Normally every part in the base is connected to next part. Not in OpenXcom. Here many ways end in blind ends.
--> This could be a feature to make base missions more difficult.
2. On one mission I even wasn`t able to get access to more then two parts. Means: 10 soldiers were trapped.
--> This CAN`t be a feature.

make sure you use the latest nightly, and when you extract it, make sure you extract EVERYTHING, including the rulesets and language files, not just the .exe
this bug was fixed like 5 months ago here (https://github.com/SupSuper/OpenXcom/commit/e85f8cf8e486cc43342c3e1e825b07ca91c715f4)

I was using the nightly build from 2014/03/02.
But I can give it another try with your latest build.

Just tried the latest nightly build with my old savegame.
Bug is still there.....
In my latest base attack I even had one room, where to go....

Ok, here is the attachment
a. save: "during": inside a base, just one room.
b. save: "beginning" just attack a base and see the layout ruined.
Mods:
- alieninventory
- powersuithelmoff

the "beginning" save generates a perfectly good alien base for me, i'm guessing you have xcomUtil modified data.
an easy way to confirm: go to new battle mode, select small scout, and see if there's any trace of the ufo anywhere on the map.

That was it!
I made a fresh install by taking my steam - version as basic. Problem solved.
