Title: map suggestion - rural towns?
Post by: kharille on July 26, 2013, 02:33:10 am
I was thinking, perhaps the map generator can create roads and include some of those city structures like the ...  shop or the petrol station?  Maybe give it a 10% chance that a crash land will be near a town?  The maps won't be big as they are but I thought maybe a ufo crashed near a petrol station would be great.

Is the petrol station a fixed size structure?

How about a new terrain type, "suburbs". It could be a grayish texture around the major cities...

My attitude to Map building is to always start building the maps first , show the community and then someone will add any Code needed to make it happen ( as they will want to try your maps also  :P).

Workout what Mapsets you need to Mix together to create your new map , build yourself some custom MCD's from them and then start laying out the Mapblocks.

I always thought about making a Desert map, with some Road with some rustic looking buildings and the occasional  USA style "DInner".

perhaps the first thing for your suggestion would be to create an alternate "road" tileset, without streetlamps and maybe with little patches of dirt on the road, to make it look more like a rural road.

:)

Add some abandoned homes too. I see a lot of them on my way to work. They just let the homes go to hell and forget about them for years.
