Title: Displayed Throw Accuracy %
Post by: Dioxine on May 15, 2025, 06:21:45 pm
You've recently added % accuracy to throw target reticule. It gets in the way and there seems to not be an option to remove it without removing it from shooting accuracy too. I don't like too many numbers because they distract me from playing; also throwing doesn't use Accuracy Extender. Can we have separate setting for 'display % only on shooting, not on throwing'?

also throwing doesn't use Accuracy Extender.

But throwing does use Accuracy Extender now... that is the only reason why the % display was added... to show the player how the throwing accuracy is dropping with distance.

We can, but please check my answer above first.
If you still need it, I will do it.

Ah, I see, I read the relevant thread.

So: I do not plan to use 'extender accuracy' for throwables, in part because the system is incompatible with basic XCOM rules (max throw range is limited by unit's Strength, not by flat number; therefore accurate ranges and dropoffs should be too, else it makes zero sense). So, yes, the displayed number is pointless if someone doesn't use the new system.

(Explanation why it makes zero sense: that little number being displayed basically forces me to set all the new throw parameters for every single item in the game to keep consistency; nevermind the workdays required to do that, I would not be able to set any fair numbers because throw range is dynamic. So, I'm definitely in favor of classic XCOM rules here.)
