This update went a little quietly but indeed worth mentioning: as title says EA has published four of C&C games under GPL licence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_General_Public_License), these are:
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer_(1995_video_game))
Command & Conquer: Red Alert (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Red_Alert)
Command & Conquer: Renegade (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Renegade)
Command & Conquer: Generals (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Generals)
source: it's FOSS (https://news.itsfoss.com/ea-open-source-cc-games/)
:P
edit: this seems also opening the way to use sprites for the aforementioned games, as stated on the official EA forum here (https://forums.ea.com/discussions/command-and-conquer-franchise-en/re-cc-as-freeware/7204350)
