Hi, I raised this request is to allow the creation of melee items that act like a limited dialogue system in battlescape interacting with neutral NPC.
Background- Mods like the Fallout mod for XCom need a system in battlescape to exchange items or services. Having a full dialogue system is out of the question. What I am proposing is, having a melee item that a soldier or NPC can be equipped with that allows:
Must have
- Enable a neutral or hostile NPC to permanently follow XCom NPC, can be recover as a item or civillians
- NPC can exchange item with XCom soldier with the dialogue item
- XCom with dialogue item can access neutral or hostile NPC inventory.
Maybe have
- XCom NPC to be Permanently unfollowed or get ejected out from XCom squad in battlescape?
The dialogue item will follow as per item rule, but have the following differences.
-tuCost (cost for the dialogue in time used)
-tuSuccessPercentage (chance of success in the dialogue to be actioned)
-tuItemRequired (item or items required for the dialogue to happen)

As Meridian said, dialog system is outside OXCE scope, in theory we could squeeze some thing using new custom battle actions in item but even if we did that each "action" you want to have its separate feature in its self.
Probably too many changes for small grain for OXCE, overall functionality like this fit more FtA and is possible it have some thing close to this already.

Hi Yankes, this is perfectly understood, with the Dialogue system outside of OXCE.
This feature request is more of a hack.
Not asking a dialogue system, more like options to have
- Enable a neutral or hostile NPC to permanently follow XCom NPC, can be recover as a item or civillians
- NPC can exchange item with XCom soldier with the dialogue item
- XCom with dialogue item can access neutral or hostile NPC inventory.
If a melee attack is action-ed. Just fooling the player to thinking that they are having a very basic dialogue like the first option is, "follow me", second option is "let's trade", third option is "Can I see your inventory"
It is a request for extra melee options features. 3 to be exact.

From the screen shot below, you have aim shot, fire and throw.
So, they will be replace with
Follow me.
Lets trade.
Let see your inventory.
Kind of like limited dialogue, but it is a melee attack hack.
This mod could sure use it.

Yes, I understand this, but to make this hack work you need lot of code to implement it (all detailed features you requested).
And this cause that I not keen on trying to implement it.
right now you can have very basic version this using PsiAmp and custom action names. But most of things you want is not available.

Dialogue system is in the scope of FtA, we can discuss your idea in it's subforum =)

I have already presented my ideas here. It is up to the other modders if they wanted it and pushed for it. I see its application in specialised missions.
