No, but the solution is offered by OXCE (https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Ruleset_Reference_Nightly_(OpenXcom)#Surrendering.2C_Bughunt) and implemented in this mod to a degree and you are free to modify those settings if they aren't to your liking.

In fact, there's a submod (https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,10525.0.html) for that.
I kinda feel the need to repeat what I said earlier: An (un)official list of submods that won't get pushed off the first page would be a way to make sure people are (more) aware of potential solutions to their issues.

After some turns Bug Hunt is activated and you can see the aliens on the map. Something like 40 or so turns, I think.

How does this mod work? 15 rounds have passed, but nothing happens, hidden aliens are not displayed...

Have you checked the minimap? Actually, did you get the 'bug hunt activated' message?
If not, IDK, submods should have priority.

Editing the .sav file helped:
bughuntMinTurn: 15
bughuntMode: false → true
Then restarted the game.
