Sometimes an enemy is detected by my soldiers while the tile the enemy stands on, is not. In such case everything is completely black, and I can only find the enemy by moving the cursor around until it changes color. Yes, I can also click on the red number in the lower right to center the screen on the enemy, but even then it's often a hassle to pinpoint the target.
Can this be solved in the mod, or is it an OXCE problem?

It is an intended behaviour consistent with vanilla.

Press and hold Alt.
It will show all known enemies, allies and neutrals with an arrow pointing the direction they are looking at. All enemies detected with Motion Scanner will also be shown with an arrow pointing downwards.
They will still stay dark, but it should be easy enough to pinpoint their location.

On the note of seeing enemies in the darkness, I've seen people scout in the darkness by hovering their mouse around in the black area, as if you are familiar enough with the terrain you can sometimes "see" the layout of stuff before you have sight there. It's....questionably useful, but it's a thing none the less.

Thank you! Somehow I completely overlooked this feature.

It is extremely easy to overlook such features. And forget them.
Ctrl-h shows if you hit with the last shot, Ctrl-e shows which agent haven't done experience gaining action. In case you don't know these.
