In that case, I apologize. It so happened that I know piratez from earlier versions and able to make a mess of something.

My idea is pilot's stats growth for winning air combat, depending on combat actions (like dodge, hits etc). Like at groung combat missions.
Do you understand now, how Han Solo gets his legendary gunfight reaction?  8)

Next, the idea of alternative mode of combat (or secondary equipment, like targeting computer) - "Achilles targeting": your vessel crew trys to hit the most vulnerable points of enemy ship, increasing damage and... chances to blow up it into pieces, without treasure reward.

As it written on tv-tropes:

Quote
Star Wars: Much of the Smugglers faction references the Millennium Falcon, with the leader modelled after Han Solo, the engineers somewhat resembling Wookies and Public Enemy being a shout out to Obi-Wan, especially how he appears in the Star Wars Gangsta Rap 3.

Oh yes. When I try it first time, there was a shrine ship map. The key word is "was".

At 4x strategy forums participants often lays out AAR (After Action Reports). I propose to organise something similar here, at this thread, but in brief form.

So... the unusual moments, which I memorized for a long time.

1. Unexpected creepy
It happened when jetbike chased one small ship, which subsequently makes landing in the desert. Imagine my astonishment when the seizure mission began: the ship was full of... zombies. As for me, a scene for a horror movie. However, the source of zombies shows up quickly, so my surprise did not lasts long. Of course it was a Cryssalid. But... wait... what he did on the ship all that time? Who ever guessed to take hostile Cryssalid on board?

2. The hunt on giant spiders turned into a civilians rescue mission. LITERALLY: when the mission began, at the site already been ... neutral civilians, which the girls had to rescue.

And what memorable for you?

First of all, I look at my soldiers 1-3 missions: appearance, skills, "stage persona". Then I give them a new name, REAL name. Alias.

Finally, weapons and action style is selected in accordance with this image.

So, what I have.

METEORA, the barbaric queen.
Game Style: illegitimate daughter of Conan and Zena
Humongous strength, barbaric armor, primitive melee weapons only and mistress rank. Why not?

VIETNAM
In the beginning, ship arrived on the first pogrom, where the SPARTANS already have been. So, militarists staged a girls with REAL Vietnam. By the way, there were even a palm trees. So while the girls patched wounds at airbus, our heroine was able to give the Spartans fight back, kill some and even capture a machine gun.

Guerilla armor, grenade launcher/rifle/grenades. Combat style... hmm... usually it turns to something like Nightwish - "10th man down" typical fan music video.

COMMANDO
Favorite dagger + tac armor + reactions + maximum time units.

RAMBO
Like Commando, but with bow and camo paint.

NUKEM
Heavy pistol + grenade launcher or demolition charges. Riot police pipe bombs is fine too.

TOUCHE
For some reason I decided that she was a French.
Style: terrible mixture of parkour, fitness and fencing
Gym suit, rapier and many grenades.

ARNIE
Adventurer armor, simple shotguns at close combat and grenade launcher at large distances.

PRIMAL
She wears rags and uses the most simple weapons like combat sticks. Interesting, but too many "save-load" iterations.
___

Also, it would be interesting to try something like combat bard with chemical bagpipes, but there are very few ammunition for this type of weapon.

That seems to be true, but the factions periodically organize pogroms at places, marked on the map.

BetaSpectre, to be honest, I've had similar associations. At vanilla game countries tend to come out of the project, but... the Gate...
The first association that the aliens had transdimensional teleportation technology. Moreover, there are indirect indications on it in the setting (Iron Tribe main city etc).

What about other cities...

Forbidden Caverns is associated with alien base from Enemy Unknown/Within. There were massive caverns with platforms hanging over the void. By the way, it would be very interesting to speculate what exactly happened at GHOSTGATE region.

Halls of Madness... maybe a kind of alien Hypno-Devices "Disneyland" for loyal collaborators from the Sirius Cult?

Nightspyre... it reminds City-17 Citadel from HL2. And Dark Eldars Comorragh, you know where it from.

The "hope" and "despair" sounds situable for Dominion's dark cult, but the Tower of Souls? Probably, it's a "psychoactive" place with powerful psi-radiation level and, most likely, with a specific source of such radiation. And perhaps this is a kind of Hall of Fame, where "lives" holographic images of the fallen heroes, or something like that.

You can found a bit at random missions, like crash site investigations, and especially pogroms. In fact, like apples, it depends on the map type.

Once I arrived at the Academy scientific sites, which was located at urban area. Apparently, it was a shopping area, so many buildings had cold rooms with meat lying on the floor.

Hello all. I am interested to understand the intricacies of setting, so I have some questions.

1. Please compare city names with their real prototypes. Is it correct that Traitor's Gate is D.C.? And what about India (especially Forbidden Caves)?

2. Why the names of the cities exactly as it is? What motivated the author to call them this way? Interesting as the view of the Dioxine, as well as the community. I understand that Boneyard is hommage to fallout series, but what about Tower of Souls or Halls of Madness?

3. To be honest, I can not imagine the everyday life of the inhabitants of city, named like Halls of Madness. Have you ever thought about something similar? It would be interesting to know your opinion about such aspects of setting.

PS: Sorry for my broken english.
