I am absolutely fuckn retarded at installing anything. I managed to get some mods into the openxcom v1.0 but still can't follow the instructions for nightlies.
So.... my question is that I know allot of what's out there will become 2.0, about how close is that milestone? If everything can be packed into an installer for v2.0 where I don't have to copy files back and forth from zip archives that don't even extract to where I tell them to then that would be greeeat.

I think it will still take some time.
Since there are many bugs to be fixed and loads of new features people wanna have.
I personally wanna have knockback ability for Melee attacks :D

The question has been asked just a week ago.
Answer is still the same: https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,4377.0.html

Actually, since the latest nightlies have less to install, it shouldn't be too hard to make a "nightly" installer. Downside it will need to be updated for every nightly out there, so require some automation to build the installer as well.
Just need someone to "own" it :)

Personally I'd drop the " loads of new features", that may be an openxcom extended department. ;)

The 2.0 version was basically ready when TFTD support was introduced and the mod format was changed, but it was never officially released under that name by the developers.

No matter the "version tag", an install wizard which :
- includes a nightly (even a 2-month-old)
- assists the user in finding his UFO files
would be a very welcome, especially for new users who want to try mods out.
-
Just out of curiosity, is there a list of bugs to be resolved and features to be implemented before the next milestone? Or would you prefer to keep it private for now?

Actually I heard they're doing 3.0 already, they already have 2.0 and are having a blast playing it, but they won't release it just to laugh at us. Because they can MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
