I actually got several complaints that 'defend the fort' is too banal, so I'll increased the difficulty by making the map a bit less 'one door trick'.

If it spawned later than it does, it would be pointless - by that time what use could you have of cannonballs and rotogun rounds?

Bandits make this attack precisely because they think you're easy pickings, so it's meant for rank 2 at most.

ohh...ops! ...but let's look at it from another aspect: abandoning the mission could make the bandits understand that the girls have disbanded and this could spawn the mission less frequently over time...for the rest it is a fairly initial mission, it is obvious that after obtaining the second rank it should no longer be generated(?)

Edit: as for the lonw waited gun fire of the rcf clip based weapons, might be of interest some source from pixabay here? (also for inspiraiton in creating and/or modify an existing one?)

At very least, with a look at tech tree viewer, there is a new Test #2, with old #2 and #3 becoming #3 and #4.

Also seems that your choice of personality will now also enable/disable some choices later on when it comes to Dr.X.

And now some more things  :P

1) Ive played a bit with N8 release and tried new  "defend the fort" mission but seems a bit too hard, especially because it spawn a bit too early (feb/mar 2601) but may it be delayed around summer of 2601 or even december same year? Gals take a bit to gain notoriety to draw bandits attention, or at least id set the "rogue" or "brigand" rank for it to happen, hell there is even an armored vehicle!

2) maybe from now on highwaymen and ruffians should carry a bit more often rcf carabines and home front rifles (even in early game?) while more exotic firearms like flintlock should be more commonly carried by necropoirates and ratmen.

3) please might the shovel gain the ability to dig as the pickaxe? As of now it's a sheer melee weapon  :'(

4) bandit vehicle are  supposed to stop on geoscape more frequently, since they search for  something to rob/pillage, while couriers a bit less, since they are on a mission

5) backpacks should give adom production as prepper boxes

I don't know i never engaged in slavery... but in N8, may 2601 i noticed there are more ground enemies but still cannot get ground weapons for mines to use, am i missing something? This time picked the lazy captain and the red codex, hopefully it would trigger the chaos saint missions,see here

Edit: anyway i saw that academy small ship are often landing in africa, which makes sense since most of that continent is less urbanized and good to make research and experiments, or i finally i git lucky?

Because implementing a whole new parameter for crafts and sorting via it is very complicated. I've refactored my craft size and multi-craft hangar code like 5 times, before it became decent looking and with proper sorting.

Just simple code for modifiable soldier/vehicle craft stats that was merged into default branch had to be heavily refactored by Meridian. You even can see the comparison somewhere in the discussion.

ah ok thanks, hope also some good will coder(s) might want to help, in the meantime let's cross our fingers!

Here's an idea for flying slave soldiers:

Rocketman
patterned after the rocket propelled jetpacks shown in the flying armors ufopedia splash screen. Except there's the catch that they're 0% damage smoke protective rather than space suits.

Because like other tongue in cheek references he'll get enemies high as a kite too - he has a forced item chemical sprayer that douses enemies (20 damage spread) with hallucinogenic compound (use UAC Space Suit movement sound).

Requires researching green lighter, smugglers (to get access to hallucinogen grenades), smokey armor, and pest control manager for gals to get the idea.

Production requires a smokey armor, grav pack, about 20-30 hallucinogen grenades.

Something that's come up during the Caturday run is how Cat Path has very early access to the Claw fighter, which is suitable for engaging endgame-tier UFOs. The Claw is singlehandedly carrying the airgame, to the point where other non-Claw fighter techs can be safely de-prioritized. Cat Path seems like it would benefit from a downgraded-Claw type fighter, similar to H-K or Predator, to fill the spot where Claw is now.

yesc actually it might be avaiable more late ingame, or maybe reducing claw cannon range, but that would makebgame even more harder, oh well it' xpiratez  :D

Carrying on with improvements to Slave Soldier gameplay and Male Touch, the Male Touch route could benefit from a Sickbay-like facility (combined Sickbay and Mess? MASH army hospital?) to increase uptime. Peasant Revolution solves the sustainability problem by giving you lots of decent recruits, so Male Touch could distinguish itself from that by using actual medicine instead of more gunhands. Male Touch's early techs have a bit of a "skipping ahead on the techtree" theme with SS Operations, early Trucks and Wrench, Operator Armor, etc. so it would make sense to import hot mercenary doctors instead of teching all the way to Medicine ourselves.

just thinking, helicopter plans give the warbird which in turn is given rearching gnome tech, but i'd lock it after some human ancient tech, gnome are supposed to give more weird and creative tech fior example gyrocopter. They should give something like "weird flying machine plans" to unlock some strange flying thing...

You should get the choices next month after updating. There can be some irregularities, but the overall system should work.

ok i tried my previous save some posts ago and it seems to work and so the rank system but the biggest problem is the latter: i got into jan 2602 and was promoted to brigand, the month before i already unlocked hinter killers, while as of now it is locked behind "pirate air force" which in turn is locked behind an higer rank  (cannot remember what it is).

so with the saves prior the inroduction of ranks it feels like cheating, but then i guess for the "loyal" player there is no chance but to start a new game..

I found kinda stange the airvan and aircar are purchasable while airtruck not, so i thought it was a bug, but sorry for the snake/shadobat...

Here in 0.99N8, shadowbat bootypedia page says it uses 2x missile slots and 2x shatow tech, while it actually has n. 1 lt/dv, n. 1 heawy weapon, n. 1 misisle and n. 1 shadowtech. Maybe a quickfix patch might deal with it?

As for upgrades, since the M-versions of the game it has been entroduced the ?captain who? in order to allow a more custom game experience, but it happens in the very early game, so if you're upgtading from an old save you will miss it,  but actually during the game if you do something - i don't know if it a random event or not - you will get a "nihilist captain" event window and soon after the one regarding the captain who test. So the related window l pop up anyway in geoscape or there is something specific player has to to to triger it in case it never happened? The time is jan 2602, every such month it will happen?

Edit: attached an updated saved game, (source L2 development branch here) so i researched airtruck but cannot buy it, but im able to manufacture it, since it apears in the production screen (no screen sorry)

The user 0xEBJC has already create some mod-alike for openxcom files (posted here and even avaiable on opencom's mod io page); Dioxine himself is waiting OXCE to support it so we may have still to wait eons to see it?  :P

Blackmarch SMG is indeed nothing like MP-5, except the visual style being similar, it's chambered for something more like 10 AUTO rounds.

rott explosions were a nice surprise!

Took another stab at getting the Blackmarch SMG to look right. There's actually nothing wrong with the MP-5k I created. So I just stuck the laser sight, suppressor can, and stock onto it. I think the only thing that'd make it look more like an MP-5 is retracting the stock but then that doesn't make it look like it should be a 1x3 item when it is.

I think another thing that makes the whole system look like a honey badger is simply the clip. Little details count and the Blackmarch has always had a straighter thicker magazine, like an 8mm kurz or something like that. Just might be that it isnt 9mm considering it does 30 damage.

I don't know if there is interest in it but if so I might publish it for people to use. I am hesitant to do so right away because it would take as much work to polish it into something usable by anyone but me as it did to write it. ;D

Please do it!At least with some usability improvement? By the way irfanview is ok so use paint.net and then convert images with the oxce palette with the former  :)
