Title: Open X Com Heavily Modded Eddition Playthrough Finally Finished!

Hello Everyone Jstank here bringing you another lets play. This time I modded the latest build with all the newest mods I could muster.

We will be playing on veteran Iron man. I tried superhuman and failed miserably.. :(


The first episode is up and there will be a new one released every day until I die horribly or we defeat the alien menance

So cool. I'm excited to see you showcase some of the mods in the playthrough. I'm waiting for 1.0 to start a new game, and I'm gonna use this to help figure out what I'd like to add to it. Good luck man! Keep up the awesome playthroughs.
Ah, I'm so excited to be able to play the latest openxcom on linux without missing out on the latest stuff. It's amazing this game made it all the way to 1.0. It looks amazing.

I humbly request you name a Joffrey Lannister. May he never die.  ;D

Sweet, I made Captain! (AKA Sweet! I killed something and didn't die in my first two missions!) Thanks for including me, I'm honored to be fighting alongside Sup and Warboy and the rest. I can't wait to see how I die horribly!

Also, that new UFO I saw there was one of Solar's, not Luke's. I'll be interested to see more of those. I don't know how to make new interception images so I didn't design any new UFO shapes.

Good start!
Them sniper rifles are deadly effective. They have that rare reliability that you just don't see with new recruits in the begining of the game. Even then, so few losses! Amazing.

Also, for those who don't know I was meaning the joffrey from the game of thrones books, and series, though I recently rediscovered that he is not a lannister.

I'd like to add putin to my requests. That guy has a higher degree black belt then chuck norris. Who cares if the last degree was more of a diplomatic gesture then an earnest promotion for martial skill. I sure wouldn't fight him! Its time to put him to the test!

Yes Tek, the sniper rifles are super nice at the beginning of the game.

I do apologize for not knowing exactly which ufo 's are whos, There are so many! Hopefully I will be able to learn who's owns them all, all I know are that they are all amazing!

The assault rifles are totally useless. Surprised you didn't just give the rest shotguns, or machine pistols, or...anything other then assault rifles. 19% accuracy on auto from 5 tiles away...thats just sad. 23% from point blank?

I like how mr. quiet quietly died.

In my game I was thinking shotguns, snipers, and autocannons/launchers, then migrating to scattercannons (laser), gauss sniper rifles, and plasma casters. Each tree kinda has its own specific upgrade for my troops. Its nice just seeing more options then just assault rifle variants from research. The starting weapons have so much more variety.

Gauss seems to have some balance issues. Why does the guass rifle cost 80% TUs to fire at 40% less accuracy at the same damage as the sniper?
50% TUs to fire at 150% accuracy...seriously?

I know what will happen as I have recorded several episodes in the future. Gauss tech balancing is addressed in later episodes. (no spoilers here) Human sniper rifles as you have seen have a distinct advantage early in the game and the environment I fight in early game (open tundra) causes the shotgun to be slightly less useful on open tundra.

Mass accelerator tech is awesome but I think may need a bit of balancing. That discussion is for a later date when I get to that part of the game...

Don't worry I'm not telling you this stuff. I'm just following along (very) unquietly observing. I'm excited to see what changes you make later on. I end up changing a lot on the rules to try to give more weapons a purpose. I've even worked on craft weapons, and I gotta say balancing those is not easy.

Your very quick and effecient in these missions. I take way too much time, and from watching I feel like I just gotta make some guys a bit more expendable.

1.0 is out now. you should update it. I hope you making a new let's play but without mod that make the game easier (eg: grenade launcher because that kinda overpowered, blow torch, etc). I like your video. I hope i can be a soldier too :). And please tell MC to update his game.

You are in Cool Kid! I have finished modding my 1.0 and I have done it successfully without my game crashing. Although the new 1.0 has 95% of the features as the one I was using I noticed that It runs much smoother and my NEW BATTLE feature works with all mods now. I do have a few episodes in back log so it will take a few days for the 1.0 to hit the shelves on my LP. I also added more mods that I missed the last time I compiled my mods. My new mod list is as follows.

The Grenade Launcher is way more reasonable if you set its power to 48 (frag), and its accuracy to 50/75. Trust me, I spent so much time balancing it.

also, why are you listing both "AlienArmoury Expanded UFOs" and "Solar's New UFOs"? O_o

I see two other conflicts, there's two laser sprite changing mods and two firestorm sprite changing mods. The Lasers can be fiddled with so you have your favorites from both without much conflict, but you should choose which firestorm mod you like better because otherwise the "Restyle" one will just overrule the "GFX" one.

You could also fiddle with those rulesets and assign one sprite to another craft, like I was thinking of making the "Restyle" version another kind of interceptor and the X-Com:EU version would be my firestorm. It's up to you if you want to go through the work for that though.

Joffrey Lannister performed perfectly. Shot in the back by his own teammate, then he bled out for 9 turns, and failed to perform at every oppotunity until then. Ah. Amazing.

It was kind of off the cuff. The previous episode I forgot to name a whole mess of soldiers. He was the one without the name tag. I thought of austin powers and he was born. A bit of a troublemaker at the base, he demanded a shotgun against better judgment but proved its worth in combat. His downfall was being over ambitious in battle as he always wasn't afraid to move in for the kill. He will always be remembered as a legend among XCOM Operatives.

I like how you present your video - showing mod site info directly inside mission video is a very nice idea  :)

Regarding scatter laser, I think you should try this

I added clips to laser weapons, and I am applying this directly on clips (for weapons with high autoshots) and result is nice
I also made a quick test, making my scatter laser back using no clip, just to check if it could be applied directly on weapons, and it seems to work well

Nothing too fancy. Microsoft screen capture 4. I know it may be outdated but its very easy to do.

Also it is free.

You have to also do some poking on the internet. There is a code to unlock unlimited videos. It has been a long time since I did it. Hopefully it still works!

Testing a mission with terror units in SuperHuman. I made some mistakes, bad day.

How do you find inspiration and will to keep doing all this videos? Just one took me a lot of time, now i will never see the videos like i did before.
Don't know if I will do a full campaign recording, this video just takes a lot of HD space, more converting time, more editing time, more upload time, and re-upload time because first crashed.

My videos are raw, do not require encoding/editing whatsoever. I can upload them straight from the recorder to Youtube using Microsoft screen capture 4.
