It does look interesting, we'll see how it turns out when it's released.

Xenonauts Dev Diary: Exclusive first ground combat screens and walkthrough:

https://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/10/xenonauts-dev-diary-exclusive-first-ground-combat-screens-and-walkthrough/

Contains screenshots from combat !!

Seeing those screenshots i have a feeling that it will be first indie / commercial x-com clone, which is most close to original.

hehe luk83, it's not 100% like that, they are more like friendly AI soldiers.

Daiky, but after for example 30% civilians killed by xcom, those who left should turn their arms against xcom. At least locally (for particular battle). Anyways, they aren't infenitely loyal to xcom.
For those countries which have low xcom rating, civilians are most intolerant, and can start shooting xcom even after first casualty.

I don't know if it are civilians, it could be another xcom unit, or an independent army (not belonging to any country or continent) that has the same purpose as you, defeating alien threath, but is controlled by AI.
Because they say the purpose of this is: "there should be less of a sense that the rest of the world has given up the fight against the extraterrestrials."

BTW, this is a great preview video:

I like the option to change the Soldiers positions on the ship, Is this a planned feature of OpenX?

Yes, we'll probably go with the UFO-Extender-style approach first (arrows in the Soldier screen for reordering) for simplicity.

looks like they are having a great kickstarter. But I didn't expect anything else :)
Title: Re: Xenonauts

Kickstarter seems to be all the rage now, they're probably getting a lot more publicity from that alone then the actual game they're building, a lot of people don't even realize they even have a demo and such set up.

Maybe OpenXcom should do a Kickstarter. :P

They've finished with 154,715 $

Frankly, i've expected they will gather more money. Probably it's because they've got little press coverage.

That's the KS demo. I'd wait for the next demo when the game releases next year. It's going to be rad.

I bellied up for the pre-order, and downloaded a couple of alphas. Not spent much time with it, really. It does look good, though, and is much more of a spiritual successor to xcom than EU. They are a little behind schedule but not terribly so, and bulking out a large quantity of good quality artwork. Certainly anyone browsing this forum should strongly consider paying the man.
