So wanted to share all of the sprite rips I have been doing recently in one place :)
First up is a giant spider from the GBA game, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It has more than 5 frames of animation so having trouble getting it in the HWP template.
If you get it looking nice, please share :)
-
Second up, also from Harry Potter on the GBA, is a smaller spider ... seems to change color mid sequence :S
-
Next up is something I thought would look cool but alas is too big for the game :(
Is a spider robot thing from scurge hive on the game boy advance.
-
Another from scurge hive, slightly too big again to go in the game. Some sort of flying thing.
-
Here is a more complete Harry Potter rip: https://ufile.io/cr8mj

Also, some sprites from Darkmere

don't ask me where I got them.

Nice one. I like the fire crab, it looks useful.
-
A few tiles from Dinotopia. If you want I cant also rip Dinosaur sprites. But they don't have attack animations, because it is a non-violent game :D

-
Please do, X-Com doesn't have attack animations either. :)
PS. "Dinotopia" means "a terrifying place"... :D

Ok. Here is the complete graphics/sounds dump from Dinotopia and Faery Tale 2:

Hope it will be useful to somebody.

Thanks, to the bank it goes.
...so, is this General Sprite Rips thread now? If SideQuests is OK with it, I would share something too, but perhaps we should go somewhere else.

Ooops! Haven't noticed that this is a personalized thread :( Thought is a side quest to scavenge assets, because creating a separate thread for each sprite would clutter the forum and the resources will get lost, and there aren't a lot of isometric assets available in open.

I wrote the graphics and map decoder long ago, when had an idea of making open source engine remake. Here is the creature and tileset dump

Sorry been away for a while ... happy for it to be a repository of sprite rips :) I’ve renamed the thread.
-
Cool! I've dumped some isometric graphics in another thread: https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,6948.0.html
-
In this case, I merged the topics. :)
Please note that this thread is for "raw" rips. If you have resources already converted to the X-Com formats (palettes, size etc.), please use this thread: https://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,5097.0.html

Thanks Solarius :)
Nikita you make this look easy! Lol I spent ages ripping stuff from a SNES game with gundam suit graphics in it as were isometric and your efforts make it look like it could be done in 10 minutes 😂

It can be be done in minutes/hours, if you know what you're doing. In many cases you can just dump the sprites out of ROM with broken palettes and in pieces. Getting them assembled and with proper palette is a completely different story, requiring a few hours or even days of reverse engineering.
Anyway, here is a dump from Popolocrois Monogatari. These are the 256x256 pages loaded into PSX's video memory, where each blitting operation can have its own palette. The dump comes with the default 0 palette, because I was too lazy to find the palette for each tile. But I'm sure you can come with your own palette :D

Raw graphics dump from some Russian smartphone RTS with pixelart graphics. These appears to be texture pages in OpenGL format. Game engine then assembles them into sprite frames. Probably with smooth animation.

again, it is a dump, not a sprite sheet rip, so you will have to assemble part into sprites yourself.

Any of these ever get used in a mod?
Anything Metroid related?

Nice work Nikita :)
I managed to extract some scourge hive stuff but the ones I found don't fit into the OXC dimensions.

Yeah. OXC engine is severely limited.

Dark Seal 2: Wizard Fire sprites
https://ufile.io/b8b4s
I've ripped these manually long time ago, using a hacked emulator. I've decrypted the video memory pages, but the algorithm to assemble them into the actually sprites was a bit too involved, requiring reverse engineering like half of the game. So a lot of stuff is missing, because it doesn't appear in the game.

I love the spherical explosion.

Anime style sprites from an online game:
https://ufile.io/ly56y
These are really huge for pixelart with many frames of animation, probably drawn with the help of 3d models, but still a lot of work. Not something you will see in a typical indie game. Makes you think that a work hour of an artist costs zero to nothing in a "developing country".

Dominus. It is a PC game, but for some reason the graphics was in planar format reminiscent of Amiga. Guess it wasn't originally a PC game, because ti my knowledge no PC graphic adapter ever supported planar graphics.

are these still hosted anywhere nikita?

Nikita, have you ever heard of Deadline? Isometric, real time, swat/counter terrorism squad themed video game published by Psygnosis back in 1996. I don't know if you can rip the graphics from that game, but I always got the feeling that, with just a little bit of minor rework, a lot of terrain tiles from Deadline could fit inside an XCOM game.

What a shame that such an interesting collection seems to be lost now, and even the imgur previews uploaded without an account will be going down in the near future.
