Title: Just skimmed the xcom enforcer manual…
Post by: kharille on November 28, 2016, 10:48:59 am
Did anyone play this to any extent?  Brings tears to my eyes that they called this 'Xcom'….

Bought it on Steam as part of X-Com bundle. I might give it a try because X-Com, but I don't really play FPS games, so I'm torn.

It's worse than the Command and Conquer FPS and that's saying something.

Having thought the C&C FPS was better than nothing, was Enforcer "better than nothing?"

I actually tried it last weekend.

While it wasn't exactly good, at it had very little to do with X-Com, I found it reasonably entertaining. I mean, you get to shoot endless hordes of aliens with funky weapons, how can I hate that?

Compared to C&C: Renegade (which I enjoyed), X-Com: Enforcer is really much, much worse. Aside from yet another excuse plot and the aliens who are barely looking like themselves (mini-Reapers, everyone?), it becomes boring very quick. The gameplay itself is very repetitive and dull and even "briefings" are almost the same. However I managed to find a explaination for this - what if we will see Enforcer as in-universe video game (or rather arcade game) based on the events of First Alien War? This theory can explain why this game is so boring (video game industry in X-Com timeline isn't that advanced as IRL), hilarious (it was made a long after the first invasion) and bears almost no connection to the main series (because it's just the in-universe coin-powered arcade game).

Gives me motion sickness so I never played it too much, simply wasn't worth it

I always kinda liked the look of the Suburban levels.
